What a glorious spring weather!

Viikonloppuna oli fantastinen ulkoilusää, kiersimme kotisaartamme rantoja pitkin ja nautimme kevään tulosta...

It was a fantastic weather on weekend, we walked the shoreline of the island we live on...

...liikkeellä oli paljon väkeä auringosta nauttimassa, mm. kalastajia, joille avannon kokokin oli nopeasti suurentunut...

...ice fishing was easy, no need to drill a hole in the ice anymore...

..laivat pääsivät  kulkemaan avovesissä...

...ships could sail on open waters...

...joutsenet pääsivät "purjehtimaan" avoimilla kohdilla...

...swans could "sail" on open waters as well..

...kirkkaalla ilmalla näimme helposti Suomenlinnaan asti...

...we could easilyu see the old fortress island further away...

...nautimme auringon lämmöstä kasvoilla...

...we enjoyed the warmth of spring on our faces...

...toisella puolella saarta jää peitti vielä lahdet, mutta avovesi kimmelsi kauempana...

...on the other side of the island there seemed to be plenty of ice, but we could see open water already further away...

...uskaltauduimme kuitenkin kulkemaan jäällä rannan tuntumassa lahdella, jossa tiesimme vettä olevan vain polveen asti; ensimmäinen ja varmasti viimeinen kerta tänä talvena!

... we walked on on ice very near the shoreline on places where we knew water was very shallow; the first and last time this winter, next weekend the ice probably is already too weak.

Light at the end of the tunnel

Havahduin huomaamaan, että taivas valkenee jo ennen seitsemää...

I realized that the sky starts to lighten already before seven am...

...talven pimeys on raskas, mutta valon määrä lisääntyy nyt harppauksittain!

...dark months of winter feel very long, but now days get longer in fast pace!

Vaikka kiihkeästi odotan jo kevättä, kevättalven kirkkaissa päivissäkin on hohtoa.
Even though I eagerly wait for spring, I also enjoy sunny February days.

Lähden maanantaina Pariisiin työmatkalle, sää ei sielläkään taida olla kovin keväinen vielä.  Toivottavasti manantaiksi Pariisiin luvattu luimisade ei sotke lentoja.

I am leaving for Paris on Monday for fairs, foreacst for Paris seems also to be quite wintry.
Hopefully the snow fall forecasted for Monday doesn't close airports in Paris...

Snow and freezing cold, so what?

Lauantai valkeni lumisena ja jäätävän kylmänä...

It was frezing cold and snowing on Saturday...

... se ei kuitenkaan haitannut talvea uhmaavia Ravintolapäivän innokkaimpia osallistujia...

...but it didn't bother Restaurant Day's pop up restauranteurs who didn't care about the winter weather...

Minun ja kälyni Mariian Kälyset Namuset oli mukana viime kerralla, mutta Ravintolapäivä lon kuitenkin parhaimmillaan kuitenkin lämpimämmillä säillä, joten jätimme väliin "oman ravintolan" tällä kertaa...

I and my sister in law Mariia were among pop up restauranteurs in November, but in out opinion this kind of event is at it's best dur ing warmer months, so we skipped our "own restaurant" this time...

Porknamin pojat grillailivat Vanhankirkon puistossa herkullisia bahn mi-leipiä...

There was a bahn mi stand in a park...

...lämpimät leivät maistuivat lumisateessakin...

...warm baguettes were tasty even though it was -17 C...

...Espan puistossa oli tarjolla iranilaista ruokaa...

...Iranian food was available in another park...

...perunalättyset tuoksuivat herkullisilta...

...aroma of potato pancakes was delicious...

...mutta valitsin silti aromaattisen ash resteh-keiton...

...but my choice was tasty ash resteh soup...

Ruokailun jäkeen lähdin katsomaan Winter Tweed  Runin kokoontumista Senaatintorille...

After eating out I went to see the Winter Tweed Run start...

...kylmästä säästä huolimatta kourallinen pyöräilijöitä oli kokoontunut...

...despite the cold weather a handful of cyclists had got together...

...vintageasuissaan...

...in their vintage outfits...

...ajamaan lenkin talvisäässä.
... to drive in the winter wonderland.

Liian kylmää huvia minulle! Loppupäivä sujuikin sisätiloissa lämmöstä nauttien...
Too cold for me! The rest of the day I spent indoors enjoying warmth...

Niinpä, ulkona on TODELLA kylmä...
Silti eilen piti työmatkalla loikata ottamaan muutama kuva sataman yllä nousevasta auringosta.

It REALLY is cold outside...
Still I had to stop for few minutes yesterday to snap few photos of the raising sun.
